Plan B – The Defamation of Strickland Banks
Jono was brought in two days before Plan B’s UK tour and choreographed 21 numbers in 48 hours, with two dancers and backing singers. Because the album plays like a film - chapter by chapter - he built the show as hip-hop theatre: krump, breaking, locking and popping mixed with drama, so the songs were acted out on stage as well as danced. The London premiere at Brixton Academy received a five-star Guardian review.
Jono then creatively directed Plan B’s MTV Europe Music Awards performance, and his Brit Awards concept of She Said / Prayin’ - carrying the same hip-hop theatre idea from song to song, with riot-police staging and the iconic moment of a stuntman set on fire running across the stage.
